STRAIGHT ANSWERS
Yes. Everything happens on your own device - photos, elements, treatments, the report. You can survey a cellar with no signal, a scaffold behind a church, or a site with no reception at all, and nothing is waiting on a connection.
Builder Inspect runs in the web browser you already have, so there is nothing complicated to set up. In practice: Windows 10 or later, macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later, iPad or iPhone on iOS 15 or later, or Android 10 or later - with Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox kept up to date. On a phone or tablet you add it to your home screen and it opens like any other app.
If you can take a photo and open a folder on it, it will run Builder Inspect. Not sure about your own machine? Send us a message and we'll tell you straight - before you buy, not after.
No. You pay once and the app is yours. There is an optional €99 a year if you want to keep receiving new features, but it is genuinely optional - see the next question.
Nothing. The app keeps working exactly as it is, with all your surveys, for as long as you like. You stop getting new features, that's all. Nothing locks, nothing expires, and your reports stay yours.
Yes - there's a free version running right here on the site, no account and no card needed. It works on desktop and tablet. Try it now, or watch the walkthrough if you're on your phone.
Yes. Photographing and tagging on a phone is exactly what it was built for - that's the job it does on scaffolding. Only the free try-out version here on the website needs a bigger screen, because you're working with a mouse instead of your thumb.
Where there is an established vocabulary, we use it rather than inventing our own. The damage types come from ICOMOS-ISCS, the treatment list follows the URL 4005 guideline for natural-stone restoration, and the condition score per element and façade follows the NEN 2767 method - it's a setting, off by default. We say "following the method" deliberately: the app is not certified against these standards, it speaks their language so your report lines up with the specification.
The app itself runs in Dutch, English, German, French and Italian, and you choose the language of the PDF separately from the language of the app - handy when you survey in Dutch and report to a French client. This website is in Dutch, English, Italian and German; French is on the list.
You email us and a real person answers, usually the same day. No ticket numbers, no chatbot, no support tier you have to pay for. We're a small outfit and we'd rather sort your problem out than manage a queue.
We built Builder Inspect for stonework first, because that's the work we came from. If you survey something else - roofs, plaster, paint, concrete - tell us what you do. Enough people asking for the same trade, and that's the version we build next.
Send us the question and a real person answers, usually the same day. If it turns out Builder Inspect is not right for your job, we would rather tell you now than after you have paid.
